The Rough Ashlar is an online Masonic newspaper. It is intended to be an expression of the views and aspirations of all Quebec freemasons. The site is organized into seven key sections.
News & Events
The latest happenings from all the districts of Quebec! We will be relying on our readership to submit articles about news and events your lodges have participated in. If your lodge is participating in a community initiative, we want to hear about it. If you have visited another lodge's function and had a good time - why not show your appreciation by submitting a story about it?
Editorials & Options
Our goal is to encourage some free thought, and open and intelligent debate. We won't shy away from exploring new and innovative ideas, and doubtless some articles will be considered controversial. However we hope that you will come across new ideas that you can try out in your lodges and which will encourage attendance and entice new members. If you disagree with an expressed opinion, we will be happy to publish any reasonable reply.
Testimonials
Why did you become a freemason? What does the Craft mean to you? We want to hear all about it! In particular we'd like to hear from new and young masons on why they decided to become a part of the fraternity.
Masonic Education
This section will be used to publish more detailed explorations of the history and symbolism of Freemasonry. If you have a knack for research and there is a subject you'd like to elaborate on, let us know and we will be happy to publish your material.
District Calendars
We feel that visiting other lodges is important for the well-being of the Craft, and so we have set up a section specifically for listing and publicizing upcoming events. If you are planning an upcoming event, please let us know and we'll list it for you.
Computer Tips
We are aware that not all of our brethren are adept with computers and so we've created a section where we can offer you some tips - both on how to get the most out of this website, and about using computers in general.
Resources
This is a collection of links to other online resources that may be of interest to Freemasons.
