Thinking Outside the Box

The Rough Ashlar/Pierre Brute has been online for the past year. The objectives of the paper for the first year were to:
  • To have Masonic information and events available to the entire jurisdiction.
  • To take masonry out of the darkness and into the light.
  • To have some controversial topics that would encourage the brethren to speak out on the merits of Masonry.
  • To have a forum that the younger brethren may be able to express their opinions and viewpoints on masonry.
  • To spark the interest of non-masons to join the craft.

M.W. Br. Neal I. Bidnick, Grand Master of New York was one of many dignitaries who joined us for our Grand Lodge Communication on May 27th, 2006.

    The "Fourth" Degree
Worshipful Master, Distinguished Guests, Brethren all,

As far as this Official Visit is the last one of my first year as DDGM, I suggest to speak about something interesting each Mason: the "Fourth" Degree.

By "fourth" Degree, I do not mean the Royal Arch, since that is but the complement of the third degree in symbolic Masonry. Nor do I mean the fourth degree in any series, since, strictly speaking, each series is completed in itself, and does not slide nor glide into its consequent even. I mean simply the "Fourth" Degree the banquet, the symposium, the feast of brotherly love, the assembly of hearts and sympathies.

    The Webmaster's Status Report
The Masonic year is ending and the various Grand Lodge committees, including the Public Relations Committee that controls this website, have submitted their reports for the previous year. I had the opportunity to read the PR Committee report and would like to thank R.W. Br. Stephen Roberts for his kind words about my efforts, and would also like to thank him in turn for the tremendous opportunity he has given me.
Over the past year (and a bit) I have met many distinguished brethren and attended many wonderful events, including the Grand Master's tour of the Gaspé. It has been a pleasure to photograph and report on these events.
